FROPRO Snacks expanded its Whole Foods Market presence from 70 stores to roughly 398 locations across seven U.S. regions, Food & Beverage Magazine reported on October 13, 2026. The Boca Raton refrigerated protein bar brand now spans Florida, the South, the Northeast, the Mid-Atlantic, the Midwest, the Southwest and the South Pacific, bringing four flavors to Whole Foods cold cases nationwide.
The expansion puts Birthday Cake, Salted Pistachio Crunch, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Toasted Mallow on shelves, with regional assortment varying: the Northeast and Southwest carry Birthday Cake and Salted Pistachio Crunch, while the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, South Pacific, South and Florida regions receive the full four-flavor lineup, according to Food & Beverage Magazine. Matt Williams, who founded the company and has been sober since 2010, told Food & Beverage Magazine: "Whole Foods gave us our first shot. They believed in our bar, but more importantly, they gave us the opportunity to share the story behind it." His wife Chelsea Williams co-founded the company and serves as CEO, per Food & Beverage Magazine.
The brand's origin traces to Matt Williams beginning to craft peanut butter bars in his home kitchen during early sobriety, per Food & Beverage Magazine, with Chelsea later joining him to build the business, per the company. FROPRO also creates employment for people in the recovery community, the company says, and is headquartered and made in-house in Boca Raton. In addition to Whole Foods, the brand sells through other retailers and direct-to-consumer.
Why it matters
FROPRO's move from 70 to nearly 400 Whole Foods doors in a single expansion is a concrete signal that refrigerated, clean-label protein snacking is capturing premium grocery shelf space at scale. For category managers, the trajectory points to consumer demand shifting out of the dry center-store bar aisle and into the cold case, where organic nut butter and plant-based protein command a higher-quality positioning. The sobriety-rooted founding story and recovery employment mission give Whole Foods a values-forward narrative well suited to its shopper base, making FROPRO a useful case study for better-for-you founders seeking national distribution with differentiation beyond ingredients alone.
What to watch
The open question is how FROPRO manages velocity across a newly widened regional footprint. With some markets receiving two flavors and others four, the brand must demonstrate that its cold-case set turns fast enough in newer territories to justify eventual SKU expansion and lock in the shelf space it has just earned.
