Crackers follow the original chicken breast chip line, reported

WILDE, the protein snack brand built around chicken breast as a base ingredient, is rolling its new cracker line into Walmart in-store and online. The expansion moves the brand beyond the chip aisle into the cracker category, a segment long dominated by grain-based legacy products.

The crackers arrive in four flavors: Classic Cheddar, Smoked Gouda, Buffalo Cheddar, and Hot Honey. Per the company, the line is made with real chicken breast, chicken bone broth, and cheese. WILDE's origin story, as the company tells it, began when founder Jason set out to create a salty, crunchy snack that did not rely on potato or grain. After three years of development, the original protein chip reached market. The company says it now owns and operates its own manufacturing facility in Kentucky, which it describes as the only USDA chip manufacturing facility in the world, a piece of infrastructure that positions the brand to scale new formats without relying on third-party co-manufacturers.

The cracker launch is a deliberate category extension. Where the chip line gave WILDE a foothold in a familiar format, crackers represent an adjacent aisle with its own entrenched incumbents and shopper habits. The brand is applying the same chicken-breast-first ingredient story to a format consumers associate almost entirely with wheat.

Why it matters

Walmart placement signals that WILDE is pursuing mainstream scale, not just a natural-channel niche. The cracker category is one of the largest in salty snacks, and a protein-forward entrant built on animal protein is a genuine structural bet against the grain-based norm. For the broader better-for-you snack sector, the move suggests the protein-snack playbook that reshaped the chip aisle is now being tested in adjacent formats. Walmart's reach gives WILDE the volume to prove whether a novel ingredient story can compete at mass retail, where price sensitivity and shopper familiarity with existing brands are more pronounced than in specialty or natural grocery.

What to watch

The key open question is whether the cracker format can sustain the same consumer curiosity that built the chip business. Chicken breast as a chip base functions as a category disruptor partly because the chip format itself invites experimentation. In the cracker aisle, shoppers are navigating a dense landscape of household brands with decades of equity. How the Walmart rollout performs relative to the chip line will be the clearest indicator of whether WILDE's ingredient story travels across formats or is specific to the category where it first found traction.
