Sazerac has completed its acquisition of Au Vodka, bringing the Swansea-founded flavored vodka brand into a global portfolio that now spans more than 500 labels. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 2015 by Charlie Morgan and Jackson Quinn, Au Vodka built its identity around distinctively gold-bottled flavored vodkas and, more recently, a range of pre-mixed canned formats. The company distributes across retail, hospitality, and e-commerce channels, and its direct-to-consumer website ships to the UK, US, Australia, and several European markets including France, Germany, and the Netherlands. The brand employs more than 80 people.
The product range has expanded well beyond its original bottled lineup to include pre-mixed cans, brand collaborations such as an Au Vodka x Tango range, cocktail subscriptions, and gifting and merchandise lines. Bottled flavored vodkas are priced at £34.99 for 70cl on the direct-to-consumer storefront, which offers next-day delivery.
Why it matters
The deal reflects sustained acquirer appetite for flavored and pre-mixed spirits brands that have built meaningful direct-to-consumer infrastructure alongside conventional trade channels. Au Vodka's model, anchored in a broad flavor portfolio, a logistically capable DTC operation, and a merchandise and gifting layer, represents a category architecture that large portfolio houses increasingly prefer to acquire rather than build internally. For Sazerac, one of the largest privately held spirits companies in North America, the move extends its reach into a UK consumer cohort that has driven rapid growth in flavored vodka and ready-to-drink formats over the past decade. The acquisition also signals that premixed and flavored spirits brands with strong cultural identities remain attractive targets even as M&A activity in the broader spirits category has moderated.
What to watch
The central open question is how Sazerac manages Au Vodka's direct-to-consumer channel within a portfolio historically oriented toward wholesale distribution, and whether the brand's existing DTC infrastructure is expanded internationally or gradually subordinated to conventional trade as the label scales.
