Originally reported by Mass Market Retailers.

Neutonic, the productivity drink brand co-founded by Chris Williamson and James Smith, began rolling out in nearly 1,000 Walmart stores across the United States on October 3, in what the company describes as its largest retail expansion to date. Mass Market Retailers first reported the launch, which places Neutonic inside a newly created Mood & Mind beverage set the retailer is building to address growing shopper interest in functional beverages positioned around focus and everyday performance.

The Walmart rollout also serves as the U.S. retail debut of Neutonic's refreshed can design and its first-ever four-pack format. Four-packs, priced at $9.96, are available in Blue Raspberry, Tropical Ice, Strawberry Lemonade and Wild Citrus, with a variety pack combining Tropical Ice and Strawberry Lemonade. Singles are priced at $2.97, per Mass Market Retailers. Both refrigerated and shelf-stable single-serve options appear in stores alongside the new multi-packs.

Williamson, whose Modern Wisdom podcast ranks No. 8 worldwide and has logged more than one billion downloads according to Mass Market Retailers, described the Walmart push as a continuation of a retail-driven growth strategy. "Retail has been a strong driver of our growth so far, and this expansion allows us to build on that momentum," he told Mass Market Retailers. Brian Salmon, Walmart U.S.'s Vice President of Beverage, confirmed to the outlet that the four-pack formats are exclusive to the retailer, and called Neutonic "a perfect fit for this category, bringing a distinct point of view and dedicated customer base to the beverage aisle."

Why it matters

Walmart's decision to build a dedicated Mood & Mind shelf set signals that the nation's largest mass retailer now treats functional beverages beyond traditional energy as a standalone aisle destination rather than a subcategory of sports or energy drinks. That structural choice benefits the whole segment by giving emerging brands a defined merchandising home with high foot-traffic exposure. For Neutonic, landing nearly 1,000 doors simultaneously compresses what would ordinarily be years of incremental store-by-store expansion. The placement also illustrates a broader pattern taking hold in functional beverages: brands anchored by founders with large existing audiences are becoming attractive anchor tenants for new retail shelf concepts, because their built-in communities lower the risk of slow initial velocity. Walmart is, in effect, using creator credibility as a merchandising tool.

What to watch

The open question is whether Neutonic can sustain shelf velocity at a mass price point among shoppers who have no prior exposure to the brand or its founders. Walmart's Mood & Mind set is still new, and without public sell-through data it remains unclear how quickly the category will secure permanent placement beyond the initial rollout window. Repeat purchase rates over the first two to three months will likely determine whether Neutonic deepens its Walmart footprint or recalibrates toward channels where its core audience is already concentrated.
