Turkish Coffee Lady, the specialty coffee brand founded by Gizem Salcigil White, is moving into the ready-to-drink market with a canned coffee lineup inspired by the regional flavors of Türkiye. The brand, which per its own description is "the first and only authentic Turkish coffee brand in the U.S.," has anchored the range to five geographically named SKUs: Bold Istanbul, Minty Cappadocia, Silky Mardin, Piney Aegean, and Pistachio Zeugma.
White launched the brand in 2009 after traveling with a non-profit Turkish coffee truck as part of what the company describes as gastro diplomacy. The "Turkish Coffee Lady" name was given to her by the Washington Post in 2012. The brand now operates physical coffee houses in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, and Apex, North Carolina, where it serves Turkish coffee alongside fortune readings and cultural programming. Ground coffee versions of several flavors are currently sold direct-to-consumer at $21.99 per unit, and the brand's website describes the incoming canned range as "The World's First Iced Coffee RTD" in the Turkish coffee category.
White was named a quarter-finalist for the Entrepreneur of Impact 2025 award, per the company's own news pages, a recognition that signals growing visibility for the brand as it attempts to scale beyond its brick-and-mortar footprint.
Why it matters
The RTD coffee category has become intensely competitive, with single-origin, functional, and flavored cold coffees crowding retail shelves and fighting for velocity data. Turkish Coffee Lady's entry represents a distinct positioning play: cultural specificity anchored to place rather than ingredient trends. By naming each SKU after a Turkish region and tying the lineup to a 500-year-old preparation tradition, the brand is offering retail buyers a thematic narrative that most commodity cold brew or canned espresso products cannot replicate. Storytelling-forward positioning of this kind has proved durable for brands drawing on food cultures with strong diaspora and mainstream crossover appeal, particularly in the coffee segment where provenance commands a premium.
What to watch
The central open question is distribution. Turkish Coffee Lady currently reaches consumers through its own cafes and direct-to-consumer channels. Whether the brand can negotiate meaningful retail placement, and at what door count and velocity, will determine whether the RTD range extends its cultural mission into a new consumer set or remains a line extension largely absorbed by its existing audience.
